Alexandra and Brian: Engaged!!!
Alex and Brian are an utterly amazing couple! I honestly don't have enough good things to say about these two, but one thing sticks out to me the most! These two are genuinely so excited to be married! At one point during their engagement session, Brian hugged in Alex and said, "You are all mine, I am so lucky." It's that kind of love that I am so thankful to be able to document and I am also so grateful for all of the amazing clients that choose me to be their photographer! For Alex and Brian's engagement session, we went back to the place they got engaged, which is Alex's grandparent's estate on Manitou Island...this place was simply beautiful! Her family has so many roots here, it was the perfect location!And, for the record, could these two BE any more adorable?!?!

Lindsay and Elliott: Engaged!
Lindsay and Elliott are a case of how opposites attract, yet these two are an absolute perfect match! She's more creative, he's more technical, and together they are a dream team! I love photographing engagement sessions, because it gives me time to really get to know a couple and let me tell you - these two have impeccable taste! We agree on everything from restaurants to the importance of buying good denim - yes, I think we are meant to be friends!
Lindsay and Elliott have been together for 7 years and this is really only the beginning of their love story!

Alyson & Jesse: Engaged!
Alyson and Jesse's engagement session is very special to me. I absolutely fell in love with this couple the very first time I met them and they are also my first same-sex couple. Alyson and Jesse met several years ago in NYC and have traveled across the country together, eventually landing in Minneapolis to be closer to family. These women are true visionaries and after becoming engaged, they realized a few things about themselves:
- They are DIY to the extreme
- They absolutely love collaborating with other artists
- They love to throw a good party!
So, after coming to these conclusions, it became very clear while searching for a wedding venue that they should simply create their own!!!! (HOW FREAKING AMAZING IS THAT?!?!?) For the past year, Alyson and Jesse have literally put hours and hours of work into developing land in Northern Minnesota for their wedding, which will also be the home of Juliane James Place! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am to see this venue come to life and it's bound to be a BIG hit in the Minnesota / Destination wedding market!
For their engagement session, we traveled up to Juliane James Place to photograph the two brides-to-be! Alyson and Jesse called in the finest-of-florists, Jackie of Munster Rose to put together some amazing details and I absolutely love how much fun these women had with their shoot! They brought together this whole new world of a beautiful fantasy land, and the images are just gorgeous!

Betsy and Josh: Engaged!
Betsy and Josh met nine years ago, at a beach, where...you guessed it...they were both lifeguards! Yes, a summer job, mixed with a little sunshine, fun and flirting turned into a lifelong love affair for these two! They still, very much so, have a glow that comes out when they are around each other, which is so fabulous to see!
For their engagements, we went back to the place of the proposal...Lake Harriet!

Safa and Shakir have a great love story! They knew each other for years and years, but it wasn't until many years later that they re-connected and officially fell in love. I'm a big believer in timing and I find it incredibly romantic that these two knew each other for SO long, but there was a certain time and a perfect place where their feelings would foster and grow into a genuine kind of love.

Emily and Matt: Engaged!!
Emily and I go way back...back to our hometown, back to the days of being on the swim team together, but we were really never close friends until after we grew up! I think it's always fun to see where people you knew 'way back when' end up, what they decide to do with their lives, but most importantly, who they become. My friend Emily is a whirlwind of a girl. She has a personality unlike any other and I never knew what kind of guy she would end up with. Enter Matt. Matt is the perfect and I mean perfect match for this girl. He gets down with her crazy self and they are total opposites that balance each other out perfectly. Matt is also one hell of a genuine guy who will give you the shirt off his back (or kill spiders in your living room...yes, this happened). He's a helper, a giver and most importantly, he is in love with my friend Emily. There is no doubt in my mind that these two are going to have a lifetime of adventure in front of them - cheers to that!

Ashley and Justin: Engaged!
Ashley and Justin are one of those couples who are meant to be together, but the part about their love story that I love the most is that the universe, literally, brought them together. They are one of those couples who have a million mutual connections, and their paths could have crossed several times before they actually met. However, timing is everything and three years ago, Justin and Ashley ended up at the same hockey game, a couple of hours away from home...and they've been together ever since!These two are SO full of life and absolutely love to enjoy it together. They love to do everything from travel to ride motorcycles...and lets not forget their oh-so-cute-pugs Bella and Bentley!

Yomi & Anna: Engaged
Yomi and Anna are one of the most genuine couples I have ever met! They are truly a couple who have all of the respect in the world for each other as individuals and when they come together, they are an amazing team! Anna & Yomi live in Brooklyn, New York, which is where we photographed their engagement session. They are a cool, calm and collected couple that really likes to slow down the pace of the NYC grind when they spend time together. This couple also has a solid sense of commitment, that I absolutely adore. After our session, we had a little dinner and our conversation lead to the topic of timing in a relationship. In many ways, timing is everything - and when it's on, everything is perfect!

Alisha and Dan: Engaged!
I love Dan and Alisha's story. They are a perfect example of how fate, the Universe - you name it, bring together the perfect match! Alisha grew up all over the world, but mostly in Dubai, while Dan was raised in small town Minnesota! About a year and a half ago, Dan signed on to Match.com didn't really have any luck. He was about to shut down his account when he received a letter from Alisha. One more date, he thought. Little did he know that by taking that chance, this would be THE date that he would meet his future wife!
I have to give it up for these two as well - they braved the cold for their winter engagement session, which, in my opinion, was totally worth it!

Kelsey and James: Engaged!!
Kelsey and James are one chill couple! I love when I meet people who resonate with me and we can totally vibe off of each other! I first met Kelsey about a year ago when she was a personal attendant at the McCullough's wedding! We fell in love with each other and then....I got the call that she was engaged! Kelsey and James have a love story that makes you believe in fate/destiny/etc! Kelsey was in college when she met James, who was actually her TA...so basically, he was her teacher! Scandalous, I know...and I like it! James knew he had to wait to finish the class before he could really pursue her, but literally - the minute that her final was turned it - he asked her out!
These two have been together, ever since...

Alexandra and Nick: Engaged!
I love going back to the place where my clients get engaged, especially when the location is super personal to the couple! I am also a sucker for a good love story! For Alexandra and Nick, this place was her parent's home - which happens to be a historic house on Lake Minnetonka! In fact, Nick proposed to Alex the night of the 100 year party of the home in front of all her family and friends!
The house was originally built by a man who designed it as a gift to his new wife in remembrance of their honeymoon in Japan! It comes complete with a Japanese style boat house that is just about as romantic and charming as you get!
The Scott family has been in this house about 19 years now and have clearly continued bringing the romance to the home!

Lane and Eddie: Engaged!
Lane and Eddie are a couple who's love is absolutely effortless. They are one one of those couples who is completely on the same page about everything and their relationship is, well, easy! I also love how classic the two of them are! For their engagement session, we went back to the spot where Eddie proposed and the words classic, beauty and sophistication kept creeping into my head for inspiration! Speaking of inspiration, the theme of their upcoming nuptials next year is 'The Great Gatsby'! As Lane sends me more and more tidbits of info about their wedding, I get more and more excited...it's going to be a grand affair!

Heidi and Jonah: Engaged!!
Heidi and Jonah are one of those couples who loves to give back! In fact, these two actually met at a charity event and their relationship grew from there! Being a part of their community is a huge priority to this couple! Jonah started his own wealth management company in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago a couple of years ago and he got all fired up telling me about how involved they are getting...and how excited he is about it! I'm so lucky to have such amazing clients, but also to be able to meet so many inspiring people who absolutely LOVE what they do and make a difference with their lives! That's what it's all about, right?

Amber and Joe: Engaged!
Here's the deal! I've known Amber since....well....basically, I can't remember my life without her being in it! Since we were wee-little-ones, she has been my partner-in-crime, my best friend and diagonal twin! (Yes, diagonal...inside joke!) She is now engaged to THE most amazing man for her! Joe is Mr. Calm, Mr. Easy Going...and judging by their photos, Mr. Studly! No, really, I've noticed the way that he just adored and protects Amber and I couldn't imaging a more perfect guy for her to spend the rest of her life with!
These two share a passion for all-things-athletic. (This is kind of necessary, since Amber is one of the most competitive people I've ever met...don't be surprised if you catch her with a stop watch in her hand...regularly!) Among their athletic endeavors, they have a true love for cycling! This was the perfect element to bring into their engagement session and clearly where they are at ease and just have fun!

Allison and Jason: Engaged!
Allison actually reminds me a lot of myself! Maybe it's the blonde hair, but her personality is SO fabulous and I was instantly drawn to her spark-for-life when she first walked into the studio! Now, bring in Jason to the mix and this is one. hot. couple!
Allison is also a fashion designer, so her creative energy and passion for details were flowing when she started dreaming up their engagement session! We decided to go with a bit of a traveling theme, since both Allison and Jason love to take trips together! Mix that in with THE most gorgeous late-summer-light and a little bit of magic happens!

Matt and Hillary: Engaged!
Let me start this post by saying that Matt and Hillary are two people who were literally made for each other! Both of these two grew up in my hometown, and they both come from families who truly have roots in that community. Hillary first noticed Matt in high school. Over and over, she tried to drop a hint to him that she was interested...little notes, glances, you know...high school flirting...Matt never took the hint! Obviously, her work and patience paid off and ever since their first date, they have never been a part! I asked Hill what it was about Matt that she was instantly drawn to? Her answer, "He was just SO nice! I mean, he was ALWAYS so nice!" I would have to agree with her, that is the one characteristic of Matt that I think everyone who comes in contact with him notices. He's genuine, nice - and let me tell you, this man is SO in love with his woman! Their love it true, easy and effortless. The just make each other glow...and you can't help but be totally and completely happy for them!
For their engagement session, we headed out to Bauer Berry Farm, which was an absolute blast! Hillary had the perfect vision of her session all planned out and it was so much fun to create and help this come to life!

Sarah and Anthony: Engaged!!
Sarah and Anthony are an adorable couple. I mean, seriously, there is just no way to describe them than freakin' adorable! You can simply tell by the way these two interact and look at each other that they are so meant to be!
We've had some horrible weather here in MN lately, so we rescheduled their session...the forecast for Saturday morning was suppose to be bright and sunny! What we really got was a super gusty, overcast day that made for the most beautiful light ever! I absolutely adore this session and I can't wait for Sarah and Anthony's wedding this fall!

Anne and Brandon: Engaged!
It's officially summer in Minnesota and it came just in time for Anne and Brandon's engagement session! I first met Anne when she was a bridesmaid for Lisha and Andrew's wedding! I absolutely fell in love with this girl - and apparently so did she with me!
Anne is a girl who absolutely knows what she wants in life! When she met Brandon, it was everything you would imagine in a summer romance. However, Brandon had to leave to go to Europe for two years to play professional hockey! The distance just didn't matter to these two and the moment that Brandon knew that 'she was the one' was when Anne surprised him, in Europe, for his team's finals!
She found her man and he got his girl...the rest is history!
Congratulations to Anne and Brandon! These two have an amazing wedding planned in northern MN this summer....think bonfires, lakes and big trees...I can't WAIT!
